Data & Art 2023 Competition
At the intersection of formal logic, network theory, and visual aesthetics, two of my data visualization projects earned top-four finishes at the Súťaž Dáta & Umenie 2023 (Data & Art Competition), organized by the Student Chamber of the Academic Senate (ŠKAS) at the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Informatics, Comenius University.
The annual faculty-wide competition highlights how abstract analytical research doubles as compelling visual art, judged by the academic community alongside industry partner Voxwise . I did my projects propagate fascination to younger students.
- Metamath Proof Explorer: A Modern Principia Mathematica
- Result: Shared 2nd Place (Overall Vote) & 4th Prize from Voxwise
- Focus: Visualizing the expansive formal network architecture of modern mathematics using Metamath database on dark background, signifying orderly mathematics against chaos. This work renders the complex dependencies, axioms, and logical inference networks of formal mathematical proofs into an intricate visual atlas of mathematical truth.
- Brain network of C. elegans (Co-authored with my wife Anna Pastoreková)
- Result: 4th Place (Overall Vote) & 3rd Prize from Voxwise
- Focus: Exploring the connectomics of the model organism Caenorhabditis elegans. By treating the nematode’s nervous system as an interconnected graph, the piece maps synaptic pathways and neural architecture into an aesthetic, data-dense network visualization.
